The AVOCADO market has ELEVATED across all SIZES and is VERY CRITICAL. Due to the holidays, there was a lack of harvesting which impacted supply availability. The demand is extremely high with allocations occurring across the industry. Mexico has resumed their normal harvesting, but it will take another week or so before the market stabilizes.

Green onions are active and up on price. Due to the upcoming holidays Mexico will be extremely short on laborers and demand is high. Expect prices to stay high until the middle of January. Asparagus is also active and up on price. There’s a heavy demand for the holidays, Mexico is gapping between growing regions and not enough product out of Peru to full fill the demand. Red Fresno chili’s are very limited and up on price. California production has finished and not enough production out of Baja to cover the demand. Green grapes are active and up on price. California has finished and we have transitioned over to Peru. Asparagus is also on the rise. Gapping between growing regions in Mexico and Peru is having a lot of quality issues. Brown and black figs are still available out Northern California or Mexico, but they are on the dry side. Cauliflower and broccoli crowns continue to be active and up on price. Cold weather is affecting the production in the Salinas valley, Yuma production hasn’t reach full capacity, and little product crossing over from Mexico. This also affects the price on the florets. Watermelons are also active and up on price. There’s a production gap between Northern Mexico (Sonora) and Central Mexico (Jalisco). Plus, the east coast suppliers have been impacted by Hurricane Milton, leading to pull from the west coast cover their demand. Both Zucchini and yellow straight neck squash are supper active and up on price as well. The California production is done and very little supply coming out of Mexico due to the cold weather they are experiencing. Strawberries continue to be active and higher on price. The cold weather continues to affect the California production and very little production out of Mexico. Wild arugula, baby spinach, cello spinach, spring mix, & sweet salad are active and up on price. Central California is experiencing a lot of cold weather; days are shorter, and plants are producing far less yields. We are about 2 weeks away from the transition to Yuma, Az. Leafy items: iceberg, romaine, romaine hearts, green leaf & etc. are also limited and up on price. We are winding down with Central California and plants are producing far less yields. Coachella, Ca has started with their production, but very little to full fill the demand and Yuma, Az is about 2 weeks away. Two-layer tomatoes continue to be active and up on price. There’s less and less volume out of California. The East coast is pulling heavy from California because Florida has very little production due to the hurricanes/weather. Nothing expected out of Mexico until early December. Red and Yellow bell peppers continue to be active. Central California is winding down and transitioning to Coachella, Ca. Very little production out of Coachella to full fill the void, therefore driving the prices up. Cauliflower and broccoli crowns are supper active and up on price. The cooler weather at nights is slowing down the production and not enough product to fulfill the demand. This will affect the price on cauliflower and broccoli florets as well. Cilantro and parsleys are up on price as well. Central California experienced a lot of heat waves past 2 weeks affecting the quality (burnt tips) and volume produced. Expect prices to get higher throughout next week. Strawberries are up on price as well. They are gapping between Santa Maria and Oxnard. Low production and high demand. We have transitioned from Valencia oranges to Navel oranges out Chile. Domestic navels are expected by the end of next week. Small size navels are peaking, limited large navels are available so we are still using Valencia’s for 48ct. Watermelons have also transitioned from growing regions. USA product is done or have too many issues and Mexico just started. The Mexican fruit will be slightly undersized, light color, and low sugar. The quality should get better as the season goes on. Green bell peppers are active. Northern California is winding down with their production and Coachella (CA) just started with very low volume. Mexico is about a month away so expect price to be high until then. Portobello mushrooms are very active and limited. The west coast is in a production gap. The east coast (Pennsylvania) and Canadian product aren’t expected in California to until early next week. Yellow corn is also limited and up on price. Oregon and California are winding down and still about a month away before Mexico starts. Colorado is trying to fill the void, but not enough to full fill the demand. Expect white corn to follow as well. All tomatoes are supper active. Limited supply out of Mexico and California. East has started to pull from the west coast (Baja, McAllen & California) to full fill their demand leading to price increases. Lastly, grapefruit out of California are done. We have started with the Star Rubys out Texas or Mexico with excellent color. Price is high because it is the beginning of the season. Blueberries continue to be limited and high priced. The Pacific Northwest is finishing up with their production and waiting for Peru to start. Lemons are also supper active and up on price. District 2 (Oxnard/Ventura, CA) is winding down and waiting for District 3 (Coachella & Imperial Valley) to start in 2 weeks. There is offshore product out Argentina and Mexico, but not enough to fill the void. Asparagus is also on the rise. Limited production out of Mexico. They continue to experience extreme heat, therefore fighting quality and the proper sizing. There is product of Peru, but mainly being shipped to the east coast and still not enough to offset México’s shortfall. Green beans are supper limited as well and up on price. Mexico experienced a lot of high temperatures and having a lot of quality issues. California isn’t producing enough to full fill the demand. Lastly, we sold all the 1-layer tomatoes (beefsteak), and we don’t have any more expected. The system shows 12 cases on hand, but they are committed to customers already. Cremini and white mushrooms are supper limited and prices are up. The whole west coast is in a production gap. The east coast (Pennsylvania) and Canada cannot produce enough to fill the void. This will also affect the sliced mushrooms. All the CITRUS out of California is winding down.
