Corn (white/yellow): Supply is limited due to freeze-related crop losses in Florida. Demand has shifted to Mexico, increasing competition and driving higher prices.

Tomatoes: Supplies are tightening after late-January freeze in Florida that damaged crops, limiting production through mid-April.  Volume out of Mexico has also decreased due to prior weather issues and recent shipping disruptions.  Tight supply conditions are expected to continue through March.  Product is coming in lighter in color

Green Beans:  Florida green bean growers were severely impacted by recent freezing conditions, reducing domestic supply.  The market is relying heavily on Mexican production to fill demand.

Yellow Squash/Zucchini: Prices continue to climb due to limited availability.  Strong demand has shifted to Mexico as Florida supply was depleted due to cold weather.  Stronger markets are expected to remain.

  • Yellow squash pricing remains elevated due to lighter harvest volumes in Florida and Mexico due to the cold weather. The demand exceeds the supply.
  • Broccolini supplies continue to tighten due to weather disruptions in California and Arizona. Recent weather swings and field challenges have slowed production and reduced yields, limiting overall availability. The reduced supply is keeping the market price elevated.
  • Portobello mushrooms are currently smaller than usual due to cooler temperatures in California. Quality is good, but larger caps are limited. Plan on slightly smaller mushrooms on orders for the weekend. Sizing expected to get better by next week.

  • All colored bell peppers remain active and elevated in price. Florida experienced significant product losses due to the recent cold weather over the past couple of weeks. There is currently no supply available out of Canada, leaving the market heavily dependent on Mexico to fulfill demand.
  • Limes remain active in the market due to tight supply and steady demand. Production out of Mexico has been lighter because of recent weather conditions, limiting overall volume. With supply constrained and demand consistent, pricing continues to stay elevated.
  • Medium green onions have been limited, which has kept pricing elevated. Supply has remained tight due to lower harvest volumes, while demand continues to be steady. We are watching the market closely and will provide updates as availability improves

  • Medium green onions have tightened and moved up in price. Mexico is experiencing quality and sizing issues, with a high percentage of crossings coming in undersized. Demand is currently exceeding available supply.
  • Celery availability continues to be limited, and prices remain elevated due to cooler nights and weather challenges in key growing regions such as California, Arizona, and Mexico. Slower growth has resulted in lighter yields, contributing to the current market conditions.
  • Eggplant prices have moved up as supplies tighten due to weather challenges in key growing regions (Mexico). These conditions have slowed production and reduced yields, while demand remains steady, resulting in a firmer market.

  • Iceberg lettuce is very active and trending higher on price. Production out of Yuma, AZ is limited due to weather-related issues, with supplies falling short of demand. This is also putting upward pressure on shredded lettuce and 4-way salad pricing.
  • Celery markets remain firm with prices increasing. Cold weather conditions in California and Arizona are limiting sizing and production, resulting in tighter supplies as demand outpaces availability.
  • Cauliflower is active and trending higher on price. Production out of the Arizona and California desert regions is limited due to inconsistent weather, including cold temperatures, heat spikes, and rain. These conditions are affecting quality and yields, with plants not sizing up as expected in the fields.
  • Broccolini is active and up on price due to weather-related production issues in the Arizona and California desert regions. Reduced yields and limited availability, combined with steady demand, are keeping prices elevated.

Strawberries are active and increasing in price. California production remains low due to the rain from two weeks ago, leaving Baja as the primary source to fill the gap.  The demand exceeds the supply, and prices are expected to remain elevated for at least the next two weeks.

Carrots are also active and increasing in price, particularly jumbo-sized ones. One of California’s largest growers is experiencing production issues; Mexico’s output is fair and Arizona production is insufficient to fulfill the current demand.

Zucchini squash prices are also increasing. USA production has concluded, and Mexico is beginning its season. Cold weather in Mexico has limited production while transportation shortages are further driving prices higher.

Cauliflower is active and increasing in price. Cold weather in California and Arizona is slowing production, creating gaps between growing fields. Rainfall from two weeks ago has also led to quality issues, further tightening supplies.

Celery continues to be active and high on price. Limited production out of central California (Oxnard/Santa Maria) and not enough production out of Yuma, Az to full fill the void.

Curly and Italian parsley are also up on price. Oxnard, CA got hit with a lot of rain last week and the fields are flooded. Product out of Mexico is crossing to fill the void, but they are short on laborers due to their holidays.

Broccoli crowns are also active. Central California got hit with a lot of rain last week and has affected the quality. There will be product out Arizona and Mexico to fill the void. This will also drive the price of the broccoli florets up.
