Watermelons are extremely limited. Demand exceeds the supply; price is up, and quality is fair. Southern México’s production has been impacted by severe weather and not enough production out of Central America to fill the void. Expect prices to stay high for at least 3-4 weeks until Northern Mexico and South Florida begin their season. Out of all the leafy items romaine, romaine heart, & green leaf, iceberg has been the most affected with availability. The iceberg lettuce demand continues to exceed supplies. Prices continue to increase; quality is fair and starting to see smaller heads in the boxes. This has also impacted the shredded lettuce causing a price increase as well.
