Baby Iceberg:
Supplies remain tight due to INSV (Impatiens Necrotic Spot Virus), which is reducing yields and overall availability. Broccolini: Availability is limited because of increased pest pressure and poor crop conditions. Some growers are discing fields instead of harvesting, resulting in low yields. Broccoli: Markets remain elevated due to pin rot, hollow core, and Diamondback moth pressure affecting crops in California and Mexico. Strong East Coast demand is expected to keep pricing firm through the rest of the month. Parsley: Curly and Italian parsley continue to experience quality issues from hot weather in Santa Maria, Oxnard, and Salinas. Common defects include burnt tips, yellowing, and reduced shelf life. Leafy Greens Alert: INSV (Impatiens Necrotic Spot Virus) is beginning to impact romaine, romaine hearts, iceberg, and other leafy items. With the desert transition to Coachella and Yuma approaching in roughly two months, supply challenges could intensify. Taylor Farms has exited its Mexico iceberg program and is purchasing from other growers to fulfill contracts, which may add further pressure to the market. Micros/Flowers: Limited for this week: Arugula, Cilantro, Marigolds, Micro Marigolds, Premium Assortment Mix, and Squash Blossoms. Yellow Corn: Extremely limited, with California corn continuing to be scarce. We will need to pull supply from Washington to fulfill demand. Prices are expected to remain high until Mexico begins production in late October. This could also put upward pressure on white corn prices if demand continues to exceed available supply. Limes: Mexico is transitioning from old crop to new crop, tightening overall lime supplies. Smaller sizes are currently dominating, while larger fruit is becoming increasingly scarce. Pricing is expected to remain firm through October Cauliflower : Supplies remain extremely tight due to production gaps and ongoing pest pressure. Availability is limited, and the market is expected to remain firm in the near term. Squash :Squash supplies remain tight, particularly for yellow squash, while zucchini availability has improved slightly. Quality remains mixed due to recent weather impacts. Green Onions: Baja production is expected to remain very limited over the next 1–2 weeks due to heat, lower yields, and smaller sizing. Tight supplies are keeping the market firm, while weather and water availability continue to add risk. Meaningful relief is not expected until fall production begins in mid-to-late October
