Red bells are active. Mexico is having quality issues and California has limited production. Expect prices to maintain high until California production is in full swing. Broccoli is also active. There is a production gap between growing fields in central California. Production is expected to get better by the end of week. Lemons continue to be up on price. The San Joaquin Valley is the main growing region and very little production out of the Ventura County/Oxnard. More production out of Ventura/Oxnard is expected by next week.

We have started to transition from Navel oranges to Valencias this week, mainly on the 72ct. The rest of sizes will follow within the next week or so. Green grapes out of Peru/Chile are done. We have transitioned to product out Mexico. We still have about 1-2 weeks of Chile/Peru red grapes before we start with Mexico. Mexico is winding down with their watermelon season. California just started and expect Arizona to start by the end of the month. Brussel sprouts are limited and up on price. Mexico is finishing up and very minimal production out of the USA to fill the void. Expect high prices for 2 weeks, waiting on California to ramp up their production. Lemons-Plenty of large fruit available (75-95ct), but smaller fruit will be limited (115-200ct). San Joaquin Valley CA, remains the primary growing region and waiting on Ventura/Oxnard to increase their volume in June. Both red and grapes out of Chile are coming to an end. Price is up, especially on green grapes. Mexico is expected to start at the end of May/ early June. Navel Oranges- the market is active as the navel season moves past its peak. Smaller sized fruit(113-138ct) getting limited. Valencia’s have started (minimal), but very little sugar, light color when pressed into juice, but the quality should be better by June. Lemons-Plenty of large fruit available (75-95ct), but smaller fruit will be limited (115-200ct). San Joaquin Valley CA,remains the primary growing region and waiting on Ventura/Oxnard to increase their volume in June. Raspberries-very limited production out of Mexico and waiting on California to start their production late May/early June. |
